Beautiful hand painted, stroke by stroke, following old custom of creating amazing art on batik, their original material.
We have been in Bali few times and during this visit we returned to one of the oldest home studios where still create those gorgeous spiritual wall hanging all by hand. The beautiful lady, the wife of the owner, who passed last year, greeted us with smile and gratitude for returning to her shop. It was hard past 2 years she explained, esspecially loosing her husband.
She pointed to here studio, where 3 older woman were working and painting another beautiful wall hanging. She must have read my mind which questioned the cost of this pieces, since you can find them on the market for 1/3 of her wholesale cost. When I saw the care and the chanting while working, there was no need to explain.
Hand made is also by printing the design on the material – hence they can meke a 100 per day and they only make 5 to 6 per artist.
So we will return and support this beautiful keepers of tradition and by purchasing their items, you will be supporting them as well.
